Bengaluru domestic worker theft: A man working in a home got caught after reportedly taking gold plus diamonds – totaling 176 grams – and 39,000 rupees in money. The items, worth close to one crore rupees altogether, went missing from where he worked in JB Nagar, officers told reporters.

Police named the person involved as Chandan Srikant Raul. He lives in Sudhamanagar but originally comes from West Bengal.

Theft Reported at Employer’s Home

Police say Chandan worked for Tommo Kankainen and Mariela Moreno – U.S. nationals from Texas now staying in Kodihalli. Their home was where he did his job.

Early on January 21, Kankainen was already in the United States. His wife Mariela, who works with software, had gone to her job. While both were away, the household assistant is said to have accessed the home safe. After that, the person took the valuable items and disappeared.

Complaint Filed, Suspect Identified

Later that day, when Mariela got back, things were gone – things she cared about. By four in the afternoon, she was at the JB Nagar police station, filing a report without delay.

The person on her mind? Chandan. He’d been around the house, doing work there for half a year already.

Police Act Fast, Arrest Made

By late evening, officers had followed leads from the report straight to his home in Sudhamanagar – there he was taken into custody before eight.

That night, everything moved fast once they reached the area; suspicion led them right to the door where the suspect lived. Before clocks struck eight, their path ended at that house, arrest made without delay after tracking through details given earlier.

“He was caught with the stolen property,” a police officer said.

Stolen Items Recovered

From the home, police reported cash taken alongside jewelry – gold plus diamonds. Dollars in US currency were among what disappeared.

“With the help of a local agent, he converted the foreign currency and obtained Rs 39,000 in cash. All the stolen items have been recovered and seized,” the officer added.

Bengaluru domestic worker theft – Investigation Continues

Finding out if the suspect took part in other robberies across town remains a focus for officers now. Moving forward, court steps happen one after another.
